Dean's Excellence Fund

In troubling times like these, the generosity of our Boise State University community has never been more important. Your support allows us to respond to COVID-19 with strength, warmth and compassion for the College of Business and Economics Dean's Excellence Fund provides COBE students with financial support during times of uncertainty.

COBE Current Use Scholarship Fund

This fund awards scholarships for those in immediate need! These are not endowed but are awarded currently.
Gifts to this fund provide immediate support for students within the College of Business & Economics. Current use scholarships benefit all majors within COBE, both undergraduate and graduate students. Currently, the GPA cut-off for our need-based awards is 3.80 and the cut-off for our academic-based awards is 3.926. This means that we run out of scholarships for students below those grade point averages and many outstanding business students are not able to receive much-needed financial support. This is a top priority of the College of Business and Economics.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program

VITA -- Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program -- offers free tax help to people who make $56,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and limited English-speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their tax returns.

Boise State students, certified by the IRS, volunteer to help prepare returns.

The program provides an important service to our community. Boise State students gain real-life experience working with clients and applying tax law. Students identify learning from their clients’ life experiences as very rewarding and broadens their horizons. These business students give clients peace of mind that their tax returns have been completed professionally and for free.

There is a great need for interpreters right now! Boise State VITA program is working with the International Rescue Committee to amend tax returns for refugees who fell victim to a tax return preparation scam this year.

Your donation will help fund:

  • students’ cost for the VITA certification class

  • laptop computers dedicated to VITA

  • travel expenses and IT support for mobile VITA site in rural communities

  • interpreters (urgent need)
